Some upgrades since last school year

Hi! This is Josh Pullen from Shuffle Buddy.

At some point (possibly a long time ago) you signed up for these emails. I haven’t actually sent any until now. If you’re not interested, you can unsubscribe.

Now, the good stuff.

I’ve made some upgrades to Shuffle Buddy since last school year.

Here’s what I’ve changed so far:

In the “groups” tab, you can now save multiple groups per class. This is useful if you need to create some short-term groups while saving long-term project groups in the background.
I added an easy way to flip the seating chart upside down. Depending on your classroom layout, you might need to view the chart from a different perspective than your students do. If so, this feature is for you.

And for pro users:

You can now take attendance directly within Shuffle Buddy. You’ll still have to manually tranfer the attendance to your student information system, but it’s so nice to click on the seating chart instead of finding names in a list.
You can generate groups that exclude absent students. This has been a top feature request! After taking attendance, you can generate groups that don’t include the students who are gone.

More upgrades are on the way.

I don’t mean to brag, but my school year doesn’t start until September 8th. (Yes, I’ll face the consequences in June.)

The good news for you: I plan to make more Shuffle Buddy upgrades over these next few weeks. There are lots of highly-requested features that I hope to make progress on!

I have been absolutely blown away by all the support I’ve received from teachers around the world (yes, the world) this past year. I never expected Shuffle Buddy to be so popular. Apparently I’m not the only one who was struggling with seating charts.

Your support and generosity has taken away the financial stress of teaching for my fiancée and I (we are both proud teachers).

You’ve also opened new doors for us. Thanks to the freedom you’ve provided us, we were able to launch a new yearly event called the EdTech-a-thon with some friends this summer. At this year’s EdTech-a-thon, we built 18 completely free apps for teachers. We’ll be sharing updates about those apps soon on the EdTech-a-thon newsletter if you’re interested.
